Blizzard Just Misses New York City and Most of New England but Grazes the Coast with Snow and Wind...

A developing storm off the coast of North Carolina this evening will track to a position well south and east of Long Island. Radar shows an unusual pattern of precipitation in a line right along a stationary front that is just off the coast.  A very broad trough will send cold air into the lower 48 states this weekend with frost and freeze all the way into southern Florida. The NAM and GFS keep most of the snow off the coast but 1 to 3" may fall in eastern Long Island and 4 to 8" of snow is forecast for Boston with up to a foot of snow for Cape Cod and eastern Maine. The storm intensified as it moves into the Canadian Maritimes on Sunday and a strong flow of cold, Arctic air will plunge down across the Great Lakes and the Northeast. A dusting of snow may fall in the NYC metro area overnight.
