Less Snow Than Expected in the City but Higher Amounts in Upstate NY, CT and Long Island...

A storm moving through Pennsylvania this evening has spread a large, fast moving area of snow, sleet and freezing rain. Snowfall totals that were expected to be 4 to 8 inches will now only be in the 2 to 4 inch range in the City, but higher amounts have fallen outside of the City. As of 1:00 a.m., Central Park reported 2.3 inches and Newark Airport and JFK Airport reported 2.5 inches. Other snowfall reports include Nagatuck, CT 8.5 inches, New Fairfeld, CT 8.3 inches, North Pathogue, LI 6.8 inches, and 6.1 inches in Peekskil, NY.  Partly sunny, cold weather expected Saturday afternoon. Rain and milder weather on Sunday.
