More Smoke for the NE and the Great Lakes Today, Severe Thunderstorms with Flash Flooding Possible for NYC Metro Today...

The warm, humid, smokey conditions continue this morning in the city.  Radar shows an area of thunderstorms with heavy downpours moving in across Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  The rain is expected to produce flash flooding in some areas with over one inch of rainfall expected.  The smoke will be decreased by the rain today and tonight. The visibility was reduced to 1.5 miles in smoke late Thursday afternoon at Newark Airport.  The photos below show the smoke in the area of the Meadowlands in New Jersey.  Sunny weather with lower humidity and minimal smoke is expected tomorrow for the World Cup Final at the Meadowlands in New Jersey. Stay cool

Blizzard on the Way for New York City, Long Island and New Jersey....Boston and Coastal New England Will See Major Impacts....Blizzard Warning for NYC Sunday and Monday

A powerful "bomb" cyclone will rapidly strengthen off the coast of NC and DE on Sunday. A Blizzard Warning is in effect for Sunday and Monday along the coast and for all of New York City and Long Island for 1 to 2 feet of snow, strong northeast winds gusting to over 60 mph and moderate coastal flooding. The visibility will be near zero at times with blowing and drifting snow.  This is the biggest snowstorm to hit the NYC metro area since the January 31-February 3, 2021 storm when 17.4 inches of snow fell in Central Park. Winds could gust to 75 mph along the coast on Sunday night and Monday morning. Cold weather will be back through Wednesday with a chance of light snow Wednesday evening. Milder weather will arrive later in the week.
