First Nor'easter of Autumn for the New York City Metro Area, Heavy Rain, Strong Winds Expected This Sunday and Monday...

The first coastal storm or Nor'easter of the fall season will develop off the Southeast coast on Saturday.  High pressure to the north over New England will drift off the coast allowing for the storm to move up the coast as a 500 mb low phases in with a developing trough off along the East Coast.  Rain will spread from southern New Jersey northward Sunday during the day.  The storm is forecast to stall over the NYC metro area on Monday with more rain expected.  The low tracks out to sea Monday night and Tuesday with a few leftover showers.  Wind gusts could reach 50 to 60 mph along the coast with 1 to 2 inches of rain forecast.  Meanwhile, the coldest night of the year is here with widespread frost and freeze conditions in the suburbs.  Lows will be in the 40s in NYC.
