Extreme Heat and Humidity in the Northeast, Massive Flooding in Louisiana...

An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect for the entire New York City Tri-State region through 9:00 p.m. Sunday.  Heat indices as of 1 PM include 118 in Dover, Delaware, 115 Toms River, NJ, 113 Easton, Maryland, 108 Trenton, NJ, 105 Newark, NJ and 105 in Central Park.  The heat will continue through Sunday, a cold frontal passage on Monday will lower the humidity but temperatures will still approach 90 degrees.  A slow moving area of low pressure has created severe flooding in parts of Louisiana, eastern Texas and parts of Arkansas today.  The heaviest rain today will be across southern Louisiana.  More than 17 inches of rain has been reported so far east of Baton Rouge.  Hundreds of people have been evacuated due to high flood waters.
