Cold and Snow and Cold in the United Kingdom and Western Europe...

A rare blast of cold and snow is producing a lot of travel problems for the U.K. As much as 5 to 10 inches of snow fell on December 18-19, 2009. Roadway, airports and railway travel has been severely disrupted throughout the U.K. A broad trough will continue to produce cold air across the U.K. for the next few days with light rain and high temperatures in the 40s through Christmas Day. It was partly cloudy and 39 degrees in London at 5 PM on December 23, 2009.
