Hurricane Nicholas moved across the Texas coast on Tuesday then weakened to a tropical depression Wednesday as it tracked over southern Louisiana. The storm continues to produce heavy rain and flooding remains a threat through Friday. An additional 2 to 4 inches of rain is forecast along the coast from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle. At 4:00 a.m. CDT, the center of post-tropical storm Nicholas was located about 60 miles south-southeast of Lafayette, LA. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to 25 mph. The storm is nearly stationary with a forward movement of 2 mph. Flash Flood Watches are in effect along the coast from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle. A tropical distrurbance off the Mid-Atlantic coast will strengthen but will remain off the coast and pass out to sea over the next few days.
