Fast Moving Coastal Storm on Sunday for the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast...

Winter Storm Watches are in effect from the mountains of northeastern Georgia to Boston this weekend.  The storm will form over the Gulf States and track northeastward off the North Carolina coast.  Unlike the major storm earlier this week, this storm will be a fast mover and will track southeast of Long Island by Sunday evening.  Over the past few days the models have not been in agreement for the track of the storm and only over the last 24 hours does it appear that the storm will produce significant snow.  The snow will begin in the New York City metro area late Saturday night and will fall heavily at times before ending in the late afternoon on Super Bowl Sunday.  A total of 3 to 6 inches is forecast with some locally higher amounts along the coast and in the city. Very cold, Arctic Air will be on the move and will spread into the Northeast by mid-week.
