Isaias Moving Ashore South Carolina Tonight, Will Affect the New York City Metro Area Tuesday...
For the first time since 1985, the New York City region will be affected by two tropical storms in one season. Isaias will move ashore South Carolina tonight as a Category 1 Hurricane and it will then track northward just inland along the coast. The storm as of 2 p.m. today is located about 115 miles south of Charleston, SC. Maximum sustained winds are 70 mph, present movement is north at 13 mph, central pressure 29.32 inches. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for nearly all of the New York City metro area and a Flash Flood Watch and High Surf Advisory are in effect as well. Wind gusts up to 70 mph are possible with as much as 2 to 5 inches of rain. The storm will move into New England on Wednesday morning.
