Coldest Air of the Season Moving into the Upper Midwest, the Great Lakes and the Northeast...

Cold, dry Arctic air is invading the Upper Midwest and the Great Lakes today.  Low pressure forming along the central Gulf Coast will move northeastward passing to the west of New York City as it moves through Pennsylvania into New England.  This low will produce heavy rain along the coast and in the city with up to 2 inches expected.  Winter Weather Advisories are in effect from Main all way down to northern Texas for snow, sleet and freezing rain.  Winter Storm Warnings are posted near and along the northern border of Kentucky. Temperatures on Tuesday will be very cold in New York City with highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s. Another strong storm will impact the Aleutian Islands of Alaska over the next couple of days.
