Very Early Arctic Outbreak for the Lower 48 States this Week...Heavy Snow in the Upper Midwest...

The coldest weather this early in the season since the 1990s will dive into the lower 48 states over the next few days.  Up to 16 inches of snow is forecast across the northern plains from Montana to Wisconsin making this the first major snowfall of the year in this area.  Hard Freeze and Frost Warnings are in effect across northern Texas into southwestern Kansas tonight.  The center of the cold air will plunge into the central plains on Friday with cold air pouring into the Northeast and down to the Gulf Coast and across Florida.  The GFS model over the next 16 days keeps the weather cold in the eastern half of the country with the potential for two or three storms impacting the Mid-Atlantic and the Northeast through Thanksgiving.
