Winter Storm Warning through Wednesday Afternoon for NYC Metro Area

The snow developed in the city around 6 PM. The snow became steady quickly and accumulated on all surfaces. Bands of heavier snow are present across central and coastal NJ in Monmounth and Middlesex Counties at midnight and are moving north-northeast. These bands will produce accumulating snow in the city. The accumulations in and around the city will be on the lower end of what was expected since the storm is moving quickly and will not strengthen until it moves to the northeast. Boston, southeast CT and eastern Long Island will have the heaviest amounts with totals ranging from 8 to 16" or more in a few locations. NAM FOUS is only producing 0.60" for La Guardia for the past two runs at 1 PM and 7 PM.  The weather will be cold and dry through the weekend.
