Cool Weather Continues for June 2009 in NYC Metro Area...

For the first half of June 2009, the temperature is averaging about 4 degrees below normal in Central Park. A rather peristent onshore flow of air has provided an autumn feel to the air at times here in New York City. The GFS model is forecasting a cutoff low off the New England coast at 500 mb this weekend that is forecast to remain almost stationary or retrograde (move westward) a little early next week. This type of upper-air flow typically occurs in the spring. There is no sign of a heat wave anytime soon. Look for showers on Saturday and a few scattered showers on Sunday.
