Canadian Wild Fires Producing Smoke and Haze in the Northeast US...Over 400 Fires Burning over 9 Million Acres...

Over 400 active forest fires are burning now over Canada with several concentrated in Quebec of which many are burning out of control. The jet stream pattern indicates an area of low pressure over the Canadian Maritimes. The counterclockwise rotation around this storm will bring down extensive areas of smoke though Saturday with some improvement for the Northeast and New York City Metro Area starting Sunday afternoon and evening. Air quality alerts are in effect for the Tri-State area as well as upstate New York, Pennsylvania and parts of New England.
