Hurricane Matthew Now a Category 5 Storm, Potential Impacts Next Week for the East Coast...

Hurricane Matthew is now a major Category 5 storm with 160 mph winds. The storm is forecast to move northward devastating Jamaica and eastern Cuba over the next few days. The storm will produce strong winds and surge along the Florida Coast. The latest GFS model takes the storm northward across Cape Hatteras and then across Long Island into New England next Friday/Saturday. The European model keeps the storm well south off the coast of Florida over the next 10 days. There is the potential for major storm impacts in the New York City metropolitan area, the Mid-Atlantic states and New England late next week.
