The surface weather map indicates that the storm has developed as expected and will intensify later this morning and into the afternoon with snow, heavy at times. A Blizzard Warning is now in effect for NYC, Long Island as well as central and southern New Jersey for as much as 10 to 15 inches of snow with about 6 inches near the coasts of southern NJ and eastern Long Island. Freezing rain and sleet have been mixing in just south of the city and across Long Island. The latest NAM guidance is indicating that the storm will move slowly this afternoon and then it tracks to the east this evening. This projected track indicates that the heaviest snow and strong winds will occur this afternoon and early this evening.
