Major Nor'easter for the Northeast on Friday....Blizzard Watch for Eastern New England

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the entire Tri-State New York City region.  A Blizzard Watch is in effect for eastern New England including Boston, Providence and Norwood.  Models are coming into agreement that a low pressure system will form near eastern North Carolina as a weak low drifts across the Great Lakes.  A 1036 mb high is present over eastern Canada.  The storm is forecast to track near the 40/70 benchmark which usually means a major snowfall for the entire New York City metropolitan area.  However, the low over the Great Lakes will add warm air advection that will result in warmer than normal boundary layer temperatures.  The snow will begin early Friday morning with a light accumulation.  The snow will change to rain with strong winds Friday afternoon along the coast and in New York City with heavy snow, sleet and freezing well inland.  Interior Connecticut is expected up to 18 inches of snow with much lower amounts along the coast of Long Island and New Jersey.
