Interesting Pattern for the Next 2 Weeks in the Eastern US

The latest GFS runs indicate that a tropical storm is forecast to move northwest just to the north of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic and then curve out into the north Atlantic well off the coast of New England. The most interesting feature is a large trough of cool air that is forecast to pour southward across eastern Canada and New England. Temperatures will fall into the 40s at night over upstate NY and northern New England. Overnight lows will fall into the chilly 50s in and around the New York City metropolitan area. Before this pattern changes, the heat will continue across the southern plains now into next week.
