The NWS has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in parts of central New Jersey.

THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF TRENTON...NORTHERN MONMOUTH COUNTY IN CENTRAL NEW JERSEY... THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF SANDY HOOK... MIDDLESEX COUNTY IN NORTHERN NEW JERSEY... THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF...PERTH AMBOY...NEW BRUNSWICK... SOUTHEASTERN MORRIS COUNTY IN NORTHERN NEW JERSEY... SOMERSET COUNTY IN NORTHERN NEW JERSEY... THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF SOMERVILLE... * AT 451 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING QUARTER SIZE HAIL...AND DESTRUCTIVE WINDS IN EXCESS OF 70 MPH. THESE STORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM BRIDGEWATER TO FLORENCE... OR ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM 6 MILES NORTHWEST OF SOMERVILLE TO 6 MILES SOUTH OF TRENTON...AND MOVING EAST AT 40 MPH.

* SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE NEAR... BASKING RIDGE...MARTINSVILLE...CROSSWICKS AND SOMERVILLE AROUND 500 PM EDT... WINDSOR...SOUTH BRUNSWICK...MILLINGTON AND EDINBURG AROUND 505 PM EDT... IMLAYSTOWN AND SOMERSET AROUND 510 PM EDT...

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... IN ADDITION TO LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS...FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING IS OCCURRING WITH THIS STORM. MOVE INDOORS IMMEDIATELY! LIGHTNING IS ONE OF NATURES GREATEST KILLERS. REMEMBER...IF YOU CAN HEAR THUNDER...YOU ARE CLOSE ENOUGH TO BE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING.
